Equine Professional Application for Coaches/Instructors/Trainers


Be advised that effective January 1, 2021, Certain Underwriters of Lloyds of London Company has EXCLUDED all claims that arise from communicable disease, including Coronavirus (COVID19).

This exclusion is embedded in the policy and is consistent with wordings being used by insurers around the world. In this new environment, it is clear that all commercial businesses need to be particularly cautious as they return to and continue operations.

This program is for Coaches, Instructors or Trainers who are members in good standing of their Provincial Equine Association and are at least 19 years of age with either a minimum of 5 years riding experience or are certified by an approved authority.

Coverage is extended to insure assistant instructors who are at least 16 years of age with a minimum of 3 years riding experience provided they are operating under the direction of an insured Coach meeting the above qualifications

Individuals or Corporate Entities under Contract to you are not insured.

The Insurance provides:
$10,000 on owned Property other than buildings (higher limits available)
$50,000 per Horse, $250,000 per incident/aggregate if liable for horses of others in your custody
$1,000,000 on Tenant Legal Liability on responsibility for rented premises
$5,000,000 on Coach/Instructor/Trainer Liability including Injury to Participants

In addition to coaching, instruction and training, the insurance includes the following:
  • Ownership or use of School horses
  • Transportation of horses belonging to other people
  • Breeding
  • Training of horses (excluding pari-mutuel racing)
  • Clinics arranged or hosted
  • Schooling Shows for students
  • Booth/Kiosks at Trade Shows, Fairs, Exhibitions for the promotion of your business
  • Activities undertaken worldwide
  • Coverage for Boarding of non-owned horses may be added during the application process
  • Commercial activities not mentioned above are EXCLUDED under this program. We will be pleased to arrange coverage for non-qualifying operations under other programs we administer. Please contact our office for assistance.

For lower cost "Certified" insurance rate you must be both "CERTIFIED" and "CURRENT"

Equestrian Canada Licensing Information:
  1. The EC/PTSO license (although recently introduced across the country) is not available for completion or issuance until a date to be advised in 2020.
  2. There is a difference between being licensed and being certified.
  3. CapriCMW has worked with EC and your PTSO to embed automatic coverages into the coach license which may or may not affect the policy being renewed here.
  4. Please make sure you complete this online process of renewal to avoid any gap in coverage by checking “NO” to the question of being licensed.
  5. When/if you obtain the EC/PTSO coach license in 2020, adjustments can and will be made to the coverage we provide to eliminate any duplication.
